Everything a tub-to-shower conversion actually includes
Beaver Bath Co. does one thing: we take out the tub and build a shower in its place, for one price agreed in writing before demo day. This page is the full scope, written out, so you can hold any other quote against it.

THE SCOPE, PART BY PART
What we do, in the order we do it
The pan
A new base in the same 60 by 30-to-32 inch footprint the tub occupied, sloped to the drain and set dead level. Staying inside that footprint is what lets us reuse the existing drain, and reusing the drain is most of why the price holds.
Waterproofing
New cement board, then a bonded waterproof membrane over the entire wet area, with the corners and the pan tie-in sealed before any tile goes up. It is the day nobody sees and the thing that decides whether the shower is still sound in twenty years. We never sub this out.
Walls
Tile over the membrane, or solid-surface panels if you picked the acrylic tier. Either way the substrate underneath is the same. We do not tile over what is already there.
Valve and trim
A new pressure-balancing valve and shower head in the finish you choose, set where it can be reached from outside the spray. A hand shower on a slide bar if you want one, which most people over sixty do.
The opening
A semi-frameless glass door or panel in a standard size, or a curtain rod if you prefer the clearance. Custom frameless glass is templated after the walls are set and installed by a glass fabricator we work with.
Grab bar blocking
Solid blocking goes in behind every wall we open, whether or not you want bars today. It costs us almost nothing while the wall is apart and it means a bar can go anywhere later without cutting tile.
Cleanup and walkthrough
Debris out and the floor swept at the end of every day, not just the last one. On the final day we clean the room and the path we walked, then go through the whole thing with you in the doorway before we invoice.
MATERIALS AND SPEC
What goes in the wall
The finishes are yours to pick. What sits behind them does not change between tiers, because that is the part that fails when it is done cheaply.
- Pan
- Solid-surface or tiled mud-set base, 60" × 30–32", sloped to the existing drain
- Waterproofing
- Bonded sheet or liquid membrane over cement board, flood-tested overnight
- Walls
- Porcelain or ceramic tile, or solid-surface panel, over a full membrane
- Valve
- Pressure-balancing mixing valve, reusing the existing supply location
- Glass
- Semi-frameless door or fixed panel; custom frameless available at the premium tier
- Blocking
- Solid backing at grab-bar heights across the full wet wall
WHAT IS NOT IN THE PRICE
- Vanity, floor tile, and lighting stay as they are. This is a conversion, not a gut remodel.
- Moving the drain or valve, which brings a licensed plumber onto the job.
- Curbless zero-entry, which means dropping the joists and is a tier of its own.
- Rot or hidden water damage behind the tub. Found on day one, photographed, and priced for your approval before anyone continues.

QUESTIONS
Straight answers
- Will the shower be the same size as the tub?
- Yes. It goes exactly where the tub was, in the same footprint, which is what keeps the plumbing where it is and the price where we quoted it. A standard alcove gives you a 60 by 30-to-32 inch shower.
- Can you leave the window over the tub?
- It stays. It gets waterproofed and tiled into the wet wall properly, with the sill sloped so water runs back into the shower instead of into the framing.
- Do I have to pick tile before you start?
- Yes, and that is deliberate. Nothing starts until every material is in our shop, which is why the days do not stretch.
- Does a licensed plumber come on the job?
- On a standard alcove conversion that reuses the existing drain and valve, usually not. When a job does need one, a licensed plumber joins for that portion, we tell you before the estimate is signed, and they invoice us rather than you.
